An 8-inch driver's response depends on the enclosure it works in. Our development study compared 13 drivers in the same historical scroll-port geometry, showing the tradeoffs between extension, response shape and available output.
Modeled examples: the PRV 8MB700-4 reached its relative −3 dB point at about 123 Hz; the Beyma PRO8CF reached about 109 Hz, with a larger response rise. This shows why driver matching matters.
Historical small-signal model: response shape, not loudness. Each curve is normalized to its own median 200–400 Hz level. There is no common high-pass filter in this graph. These are development comparisons, not measured production response or fitment approvals.
The geometry predates final production reconciliation. The historical geometry used 5.69 L gross airspace, 0.88 L port volume and each driver's modeled intrusion. The PRV example used 0.50 L intrusion, leaving 4.31 L net with a modeled 121.9 Hz alignment. These values describe the study, not measured current-production tuning. The scroll-port analysis considered changing cross-section along the port rather than treating it as a uniform straight tube.
Usable low-frequency output also depends on cone travel. The next study compares output at each driver's own rated RMS power, using the lower of the thermal-response and simplified displacement ceilings. It is not an equal-wattage or equal-voltage comparison.
The orange DS18 PRO-1KP8.4 curve is thermal-only and optimistic: its Xmax value is missing from the dataset, so no cone-travel ceiling was applied. Its apparent lead must not be read as a verified output winner.
The 8-inch prototype was tested on August 26, 2026, with separate left/right cone and port captures and a combined rider-position sweep. This adds real installed-development evidence alongside the modeling.
The nearfield curves and rider trace represent different measurement positions and cannot be compared as equivalent output levels. The capture documents prototype behavior; it does not establish the historical model's tuning or a guaranteed production SPL.

Confirm the exact speaker clearance before ordering. Nominal 8-inch size alone does not establish compatibility: frame shape, mounting depth, magnet dimensions, terminals and mounting holes all matter. Provide AVT with your motorcycle year, model, fairing configuration and exact speaker model. The comparison charts are acoustic development studies, not a fitment list.
A small modification to the inner fairing vent outlet is required for the 8-inch enclosures. The gallery shows this installation detail. Confirm the modification with AVT before installation.
Reuse the stock enclosure mounting hardware. Check speaker seating, sealing, wiring, terminal and port clearance before reassembling the fairing. Configure suitable high-pass protection and amplifier gain for the installed speaker, following its manufacturer's operating guidance. Speaker power and impedance ratings are not ratings of the empty enclosure.
One empty left/right enclosure pair. Speakers, mounting hardware, grilles, wiring and accessories are not included. Retain the original enclosure mounting hardware for reuse.
