Vehicle application
For motorcycles using the same factory speaker enclosure as the 2017 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. Confirm the exact speaker dimensions and clearance before ordering.

The punch starts behind the grille. AVT's 6.5-inch ported enclosure makes midbass part of the build from the start: speaker, enclosure, amplifier and filtering working together in the Road Glide fairing.

$525 per empty left/right pair, including shipping. Made to order. Ships in 2–3 days. ABS in matte black / charcoal.

The contoured body and integrated acoustic port use the available fairing space. The documented development and installed-test speaker is the PRV 6MR500-NDY-4, 4 ohm. Speakers are sold separately.

Why the enclosure matters

The enclosure is part of the acoustic system. During development, we compared the same aftermarket drivers at the same input in a compact sealed baseline and a proposed ported alignment. This isolates the effect of the enclosure in the model.

Modeled PRV 6MR500-NDY-4 example: +8.4 dB at 100 Hz and +7.8 dB at 125 Hz. Its modeled −3 dB point moved from 172 Hz to 103 Hz. The six-driver median was +8.4 dB at 100 Hz and +8.8 dB at 125 Hz.

Historical development model, not a measured production gain. Same driver and electrical input; common 95 Hz second-order Butterworth high-pass filter; assumed 2.7 L net sealed baseline versus the historical approximately 105 Hz ported proposal. This does not compare the factory speaker against an aftermarket speaker.

Historical modeled 6.5-inch enclosure comparison: six drivers, assumed sealed baseline versus proposed ported alignment.
Modeled enclosure comparison across six drivers. The useful result: airspace and port design can change midbass response while the driver and input stay the same.

Show / hide: Model conditions and enclosure-development detail

The model's geometry has not been established as numerically identical to the current production enclosure. The historical proposal used 5.727 L gross volume, a 0.869 L port, 201 mm port centerline and 30.45 cm² throat. Net airspace changes with the driver's intrusion; the PRV example used 4.558 L net and a modeled 104.4 Hz alignment. These are development-study dimensions, not current-product dimensional specifications.

The study excludes compression, leakage, distortion and the motorcycle's acoustic transfer. The common 95 Hz filter is a comparison condition, not a full-power installation prescription. Physical development also included revisions to port restrictions and basket/motor clearance so packaging and airflow were considered together.

Choose the driver as part of the system

Response shape, cone travel, port air speed and protection requirements matter together. A higher watt rating alone does not select the right speaker. The ten-driver study below shows those tradeoffs alongside the recorded fit status.

The PRV 6MR500-NDY-4 is the documented installed development driver. The 6MB550FT-4 was an acoustic reference but was rejected for fit. Other candidates still require exact fit checks; this is not a drop-in compatibility list.

Show / hide: More comparisons: cone motion, port speed and output

The earlier motion study illustrates the tradeoff between reduced cone travel around the alignment region and increased port air speed. It does not establish zero port noise or protection below tuning.

Historical 6.5-inch analytical cone-motion and port-speed comparison.
Earlier CAD-based analytical screen: 5.727 L gross, 0.835 L port, 173.52 mm centerline, 33.83 cm² throat, driver-specific intrusion, assumed loss Q7 and common 95 Hz / 12 dB high-pass filter. This is a different historical alignment from the lead chart. Top: rated-power travel as a percentage of published one-way Xmax. Bottom: port speed at each driver's excursion-limited model power.

Open the companion response and modeled-output comparison. Same earlier geometry as the motion study. Absolute output depends on sensitivity normalization and excludes compression, leakage, amplifier limits and motorcycle transfer. The retained PRV sensitivity-reference conflict can shift absolute comparisons by about 3 dB; it does not change the same-driver relative gain in the lead chart. Use this as development context, not an enclosure SPL or wattage rating.

Developed on the motorcycle

The 6.5-inch prototype was installed and evaluated with the PRV 6MR500-NDY-4. Development included separate speaker-cone and port response measurements, rider-position response recordings, and left/right distortion recordings. These checks informed the design alongside the enclosure modeling.

The installed photographs show the enclosure's mounting arrangement and relationship to surrounding equipment.

Vehicle and speaker fitment

For motorcycles using the same factory speaker enclosure as the 2017 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. Confirm the configuration with AVT if your motorcycle has a replacement fairing or previous custom audio installation.

For a speaker other than the documented PRV pairing, check the exact frame, mounting depth, magnet, terminals and mounting-hole arrangement with AVT before ordering. A nominal 6.5-inch size does not establish fitment.

What's included

One empty left/right enclosure pair. Reuse the motorcycle's original enclosure mounting hardware. Speakers, tweeters, grilles, amplifiers, processors, wiring, connectors, gaskets and mounting hardware are not included. Pictured audio equipment is shown for installation context only.

Installation and system setup

The 6.5-inch enclosures do not require modification to the inner fairing vent outlet. Check speaker seating, sealing, wiring, terminal and port clearance before reassembling the fairing.

Select amplification and high-pass protection for the exact speaker and complete system. Speaker power and impedance ratings belong to the installed speaker, not the empty enclosure. Follow the speaker manufacturer's guidance and confirm gain and filter settings during installation.

Compare the AVT enclosure sizes, or contact AVT with your motorcycle and exact speaker model before ordering.

Manufacturer fitment

Manufacturer fitment details are not yet available for this product. Ask AVT to verify fitment before ordering.
