S&S supplies the required bearing, o-rings, and hardware with the 475C cam kit; verify every listed piece before disassembly.
S&S identifies the 475C as a bolt-in cam compatible with stock valvetrain components; inspect the existing components and follow every current clearance and condition check before reuse.
Use S&S Instruction 510-0467 together with the service information for the exact motorcycle for exhaust, floorboard, pushrod, oil-pump, cam-chest, and final reassembly procedures.
Verify sprocket alignment within 0.009 inch and follow the exact VVT or non-VVT torque path, including the specified sprocket, tensioner, cam-cover, cam-plate, and oil-pump values.
Remove and reinstall the stock pushrods through the Harley-Davidson service procedure, or use S&S Quickee Adjustable Pushrods 930-0123 when the stock pushrods are cut to avoid top-end disassembly.
When it applies: Add 930-0123 only when the installation method replaces the stock pushrods; do not cut pushrods unless the exact safety procedure is followed.
Planned sourcing item
Needed when the stock pushrods are cut or the chosen procedure replaces them with an adjustable set.
Confirm the calibration and final checks required for the exact cam, displacement, intake, exhaust, and motorcycle.
When it applies: Calibration needs depend on the complete engine and airflow configuration.
Have AVT or a qualified engine builder complete the job when the required tools, measurements, calibration, or engine-building knowledge are not available.
When it applies: Recommended whenever the installer cannot positively verify every required clearance, procedure, and torque value.
S&S recommends replacing the tappets when the cam is replaced and identifies Precision Tappets 330-0718 for the 475C application.
Planned sourcing item
Use assembly lubricant on the bearings, cam lobes, bushings, thrust surfaces, o-rings, chain, and tensioner shoe; use red or blue threadlocker only on the exact fasteners specified by S&S.
Shop Assembly CompoundsHave Harley-Davidson sprocket locking tool 42314 and cam-bearing removal/installation tool 42325-4 or exact equivalents before opening the cam chest.
